Usenet Servers – NewzScape

To add a Usenet server to NewzScape, go to: Setup Menu -> Servers

Use this window to enter the information for all the Usenet servers to which you have access. You only need one server to use NewzScape, but you can use as many as you like.

You can enter any descriptive name into the Name box. It’s just a nickname.

In the Server URL box, you can enter the URL or IP address of the server. The URL should look something like this: news.your-isp.com. An IP address is four numbers separated by dots, such as: 123.456.789.012. Normally, using the URL is fine. You only need to resort to the IP address if NewzScape has trouble finding the server.

If the server requires a username and password, enter them here. Otherwise, leave those two boxes blank. If the server does not require a username and password, and you enter something anyway, it may cause logon problems.

Please see this page for an explanation of the Port and SSL settings.

Only your ISP or Usenet Service Provider can tell you what to enter for Server URL, Username, Password, and Port. We cannot tell you for sure what to enter for any of those things. If you are having trouble getting the info, and are eager to get going, you can sign-up with Easynews, which is probably way better anyway.

Note to former PixNewsPro users: this is a little different from when you entered the server info into the settings of each Downloader. In NewzScape, once you enter the server info, it will appear on a menu in the Downloader settings and then you simply select it. That makes it quicker to set up a lot of Downloaders for the same server.
