False Positives from
AVG Anti-Virus

(Posted on September 19, 2007)

On September 19, 2007, people downloading our software began emailing to inform us that the AVG Anti Virus program was flagging our installer programs as containing the trojan horse: "PSW.OnlineGames.KJP". This was the second time that AVG Anti Virus produced a false-positive on our programs. At that time, the programs in question had been available for many weeks, and were downloaded by many thousands of people - none of which had reported the slightest problem to us.

When getting a warning from an anti-virus program, it is always a good idea to get a second opinion. A good free program to use is Trend Micro's HouseCall. This browser-based program can be used to quickly check individual files. (Make sure to run it with Internet Explorer as it may not work with FireFox.)
