PixPlayerLite Online Manual

PixPlayerLite's role is twofold. It plays slide-shows and allows you to very rapidly review new images that you download from the Internet. If you use newsgroup downloading software like our JpegJet product, PixPlayerLite is the fastest way to review all of those images, easily saving the ones you like, and throwing away the ones you don't. PixPlayerLite's elegantly designed interface allows you to access all of this power within no more than a minute or two of running it for the first time.

Shortcut Keys
Backspace = Delete
Alt-N = Next image
Alt-P = Previouos image
Alt-M = Move image
Alt-D = Delete image

1) File List - On the left side of the screen, you will see a list of files in the directory that you have specified with one of the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Files are listed in alphabetical order, and played in alphabetical order during a slide show. Click once on a file to view it. Use the up and down arrow keys to view file after file with the keyboard. If you right-click on the File List, you will get a pop-up menu where you can move, copy, and rename the selected file, or open another folder.

2) File Count - Below the File List, the number of files in that directory is displayed. In addition to using the 'Move' button, you can move the selected files in the list by dragging the count text to a button at the bottom of the screen.

3) Play Button - When the play button is clicked, the slide show begins, and the controls are automatically hidden. To make the controls visible again, just click anywhere on the window. While the slide show is playing, the 'Play' button becomes the 'Stop' button. Clicking the 'Stop' button stops the slide show. You can also stop the slide show while it is running full-screen by pressing any key.

4) Speed Button - Click this button to open a window where you can set the speed of the slide show. Settings can be for hours, minutes, or seconds. While the slide show is playing, the number-of-files text below the files list becomes a countdown timer showing the amount of time left until the next image is displayed. You can change the speed while the slide show is running.

5) Delete Button - Clicking the 'Delete' button will cause the currently selected file(s) to be deleted. You can use the options on the Option->Settings window to tell PixPlayerLite to move deleted files to the Recycle Bin, or to just blow them away. It takes longer to move files to the Recycle Bin, however you won't notice much of a difference when only deleting one file. If, however, you delete 25 files at once, you will see a major difference in speed. You can also activate this function by pressing the Backspace key.

6) Move Button - Clicking the 'Move' button will move the selected file(s) to the folder associated with the button with the red dot. So, if you are watching a slide show, and you see an image that you are tired of looking at, you can click the 'Move' button and send it to another folder. Or if you are reviewing newly downloaded files, and you see an image that you like, click the 'Move' button to send it to a folder where you save files. Assign the red dot to a button by right-clicking on it and selecting the command from the pop-up menu.

7) Exit Button - Click this button to shut down PixPlayerLite.

8) Button Bar - This is the row of buttons at the bottom of the screen. Each button can represent a folder on your computer. When you click a button, PixPlayerLite will load all the files in the associated folder. When you click the 'Move' button, files will be moved to the button with the red dot. You assign the red dot to a button by right-clicking on the button and choosing 'Set as Move Directory' from the pop-up menu. You can move images by dragging them onto a button. You set the name and folder of a button by choosing the 'Modify...' command from the pop-up menu. The width of the buttons is determined by the length of the longest button name you have assigned. To keep your button bar from taking up too much space, keep all of your button names short.

9) Image Area - This is where images are displayed. Click the maximize button to see as much of your images as you can fit in your screen. If images are too large to fit, PixPlayerLite will display scroll bars. Or you can go to the 'Options' menu and use the 'Fit Large Image In Screen' command. This command causes PixPlayerLite to scale down images so that they will fit in the screen. With most images, you will only notice slight distortion. You can also toggle this setting by right-clicking on the image.

10) File Menu - 'Open Folder' Command - You can open a folder of images by using this command.

11) File Menu - 'Next Picture' Command - You can use Ctrl-N to have PixPlayerLite display the next image in the File List. When PixPlayerLite gets to the bottom of the list, the next Ctrl-N will move to the top of the list. You can also use ALT-N.

12) File Menu - 'Previous Picture' Command - You can use Ctrl-P to have PixPlayerLite display the previous image in the File List. When using 'Previous Picture' and you get to the top of the list, PixPlayerLite will move to the bottom of the list. You can also use ALT-P.

13) File Menu - 'Refresh File List' Command - This causes PixPlayerLite to reload the list of files in the File List. It is useful if you have PixPlayerLite running and then add or remove more files to the current directory.

14) File Menu - 'Exit' Command - This command shuts down PixPlayerLite.

15) Options Menu - 'Hide Controls' Command - This command will hide the title bar, menu bar, and all the buttons, etc. on the window so that you can devote all of your screen space to the image you are looking at. Click anywhere to unhide all controls.

16) Options Menu - 'Fit Large Images In Screen' Command - This command, when checked, will cause PixPlayerLite to scale down images so that they will fit in the screen. Otherwise, large images are displayed with scroll bars. Scaling images will cause some minor distortion. You can toggle this command by right-clicking on the image being displayed.

17) Options Menu - 'Settings' Command - This command will open the Settings window. See below.

18) Register Menu - 'Register Now' Command - This command will open a window that will start you on the registration process. This menu will not be displayed after you have registered.

19) Register Menu - 'Enter Registration Key' Command - After you have paid for PixPlayerLite and received your registration key, use this command to open the window and enter the key. Be sure to type both your name and the registration key exactly. The 'Register' menu is not displayed after you have registered. BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR REGISTRATION KEY IN CASE YOU HAVE TO INSTALL PixPlayerLite AGAIN.

20) Help Menu - 'Quick Start Guide' Command - This command runs the Notepad application that comes with Windows and opens the PixPlayerLite Quick Start Manual.
