NZB Site Guide

What is an NZB Site? - An NZB site monitors Usenet newsgroups and allows you to search for files and then download NZB files. Then you feed the NZB file into an NZB "client" program like SuperNZB which will connect to your ISP's news server and download the files that you initially searched for.

Why do I need an NZB Site? - Because they save you time. Many newsgroups have zillions of files and it takes a long time to search through them with a traditional newsreader program.

NewzBin.com

NewzBin invented the NZB format and is a very nice website. Their NZB files are very high quality. For example, with a large RAR archive, they will include the PAR files too so that you don't have to hunt for them. The site is not free, but is very cheap, and well worth the small fee. NewzBin is unfortunately only allowing new members by invitation. They sometimes close the site to new members while doing upgrades, so hopefully they will open it back up soon.

binsearch.info

This is a free site, however the editors do not go the extra mile to provide user-friendly titles for files, and just leave the often-cryptic subject line from the raw posts. Newbies will find this site more difficult than NewzBin, but it does get the job done, if only in a bare-bones fashion.

alt.binaries.nl

This site needs a lot of work. It's listings seem to be generated by software rather than human editors. For example, a RAR/PAR set will show up in a bunch of listings and then you have to pick out the correct files. Usenet newbies will have no clue as to what is going on.

TVNZB.com

This free site is dedicated to TV, and is pretty newbie-friendly.

NewzLeech

This site is very similar to alt.binaries.nl. It works OK, but newbies will have to struggle with it.

nzbsrus.com

Terrible; horrible. There is no need for this site to exist. Here is one example of bad interface design: The first thing you do when you go to an NZB site is search for something. So, shouldn't the search box be easy to find, up near the top of the page? At review time, this site had a tiny search box halfway down the page.
