M3U files contain music play lists. You will often find these files in newsgroups and RAR archives. However, they are of no use because they contain a list of 'path names' to music files. But the path names will be from the computer of whoever posted the M3U file, and will not be valid on your computer. Plus, you probably want to make your own playlists anyway.
