ConverTastictmWhere are Your Conversions REALLY Coming From? The Results Window Help PageThe Results window opens up after you do a search that finds some log entires. You can have as many Results windows open as you want. Follow these links for a discussion of the IP Address, Request, Referrer, and User Agent columns. The Date column shows the date from your server-log files. The Status column shows the result of the request, which you will rarely use while researching conversions. If you are curious, you can read about status codes here. The same goes for the Size column; you will rarely need to use it. A possible use of the Status and Size columns is if you are looking at a download. Then they will tell you whether or not the download completed or not. But normally, you will be more interested in how your customer got to your download page in the first place. The four Copy buttons are for when you need to do additional searchers. So, if your first search on the IP Address did not find the arrival, you might want to select a line in the list, click the Copy Agent button, go back to the Search window, and paste the user-agent into the user-agent box as part of your next search. The Copy Log button copies all the lines in the list. The Copy Lines button only copies the selected lines. Use these buttons to paste the data into another program like a word processor if you are working on a long trail with several Results windows and want to see all the log entries in one sequence. The box at the bottom of the window shows the search criteria used. This comes in handy if you have done a lot of searchers and you are trying to remember all of the various approaches you have taken in a hard case. |
